The Economic Development Division is actively devoted and fully dedicated to the successful delivery and implementation of a comprehensive economic development program that promotes the recruitment and retention of businesses and industries that share our values as a community, as well as our commitment to success. The division takes a lead role in creating a strong pro-business climate by working with local businesses to facilitate expansions, assist with workforce development needs, provide access to standard regional resources, and helping entrepreneurs start new business enterprises.

Finalist for the Most Business Friendly City Award
We are pleased to share that the City of Rosemead has been a finalist for various years in the “Most Business-Friendly City in Los Angeles County Award,” which is judged annually by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC). Rosemead ranking as an award finalists was based on LAEDC evaluations of the City’s demonstrated priority commitment to economic development, excellence in programs and services designed to facilitate business entry, expansion and retention, competitive business tax rates and fee structures, availability of economic incentives, and effective communication with business clients - City staff communicates in Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese, Chiu chow/Teochew, and Toi-Shan), Vietnamese, Korean, Thai, Romanian, Tagalog; and through Rosemead’s ‘Round the Clock’, Facebook, Instagram, Nixle, and Twitter, providing residents, businesses and visitors channels to identify problems with a Virtual City Hall 24/7.

New businesses can obtain a Banner permit to display a banner on the frontage of their building to promote a grand opening. Banner permit is valid for up to 60 days at a fee of $60.00.

Business Retention & Expansion
This business retention and expansion program strives to keep businesses from relocating to other cities; helps businesses survive economic difficulties; assists businesses with expansion that create jobs; and helps firms increase their competitiveness.
