Alert LA County

MASS EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM: ALERT LA COUNTY

The Los Angeles County has implemented an emergency mass notification system that will be used to contact County residents and businesses via recorded phone messages, text messages or e-mail messages in case of emergency. This system, called "Alert LA County", will be used by the County's Emergency Operations Center to notify residents and businesses of emergencies or critical situations and for the public to take specific protective actions, such as evacuations.

The system utilizes the telephone companies' 911 database and is able to contact land-line telephone numbers, whether listed or unlisted. Only land-line numbers are included. Individuals using cellular or Voice over IP numbers who would like to be notified via Alert LA County, or those who would like an e-mail notification, must register those telephone numbers and/or e-mail address at www.alert.lacounty.gov.

For people who are using TTY/TDD phone systems, ALERT LA County will automatically recognize the communication device and will text messages.

Each telephone number and e-mail can be associated with only one street address, please register and keep your family safe.
