Councilmember - Bill Alarcon

Bill AlarconBill Alarcon has served on the Rosemead City Council since March 2011 and previously served on the City Council when he was appointed in April 2003 to fill a vacancy. He has been a member of the Traffic Commission and Planning Commission. He has a total of 14 years of experience in serving the community.

During his previous term as a Council Member, he helped make decisions that brought successful businesses to Rosemead such as Wal-Mart, I-Hop, and Office Depot. As the Chairman of the Planning Commission, he helped shape the development standards for mixed-use projects that helped bring Fresh & Easy and the UFC Gym to Rosemead. His track record proves that he is willing to make tough decisions that are based on the best interest of the community.

Bill was the Chairperson for the Garvey Avenue Master Plan committee that will enhance Garvey Avenue with more shops and restaurants. He also served on the Zoning Committee to update Rosemead's code to make it more business friendly. He currently serves on the West San Gabriel Vector Control Board and is a member of the SR60 Board.

Bill and his wife, Sylvia, have lived in Rosemead for 40 years and they are active in the community. He has four sons who grew up in Rosemead and attended local schools in the community. As a result of being a long-time resident and having raised his children in Rosemead, he is a strong supporter of continuing the City's beautification efforts and enhancing and preserving the quality of life for Rosemead residents.

As a member of the City Council, Bill will work toward promoting and upgrading City parks and expanding Rosemead's community centers. His goals also include supporting the efforts of public safety to ensure that the police and the fire departments have the resources to best protect and serve the community.

Bill is a second generation Angelino. He was born and attended school in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles. Bill became acquainted with Rosemead when he attended Don Bosco Technical High School. Bill earned his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from University of Southern California. Mr. Alarcon has worked as the vice-president for a multi-national micro-electronics firm.

He has also coached AYSO and was an active member of the St. Anthony's School and Don Bosco Tech Parents Organization. His wife Sylvia continues to teach at Savannah School.
